This profound poem of insight into a young teen age girl was written by 13 year old Julia Savovici, a member of our parish.
True Self
I know I'm spoiled, I know I can be rude.
I know what to do, but still don't do it.
I know I can be mean, I'm turning into a teen,
So why does everyone expect everything to come from me?
My life is going down, I cry myself to sleep.
I try to carry on, but I still can't see what is happening to me.
I know I can be stubborn, I know I'm lazy,
But I do have a good side.
I am understanding, not always demanding.
I'll always be there when you need me.
I am a loving person, more than you'll ever know.
I don't hate people if they do one thing wrong.
Sometimes I write love songs.
I know you can't see those things
Because you're wrapped up in all my bad qualities,
But if you could, I wish you would.
You'd see my true self, who I really am.
I'll do all I can to help you realize
There's more to me than the only side you see,
And once you know who I am,
In the end, we'd probably be friends.
