Bishop THOMAS visits St. BASIL the Great Mission in Poquoson, Va on January 7-8, 2006.

The Mission of Saint Basil the Great in Poquoson, Virginia was deeply honored by a visit from The Right Reverend Bishop THOMAS, bishop of the Diocese of Oakland Pennsylvania and the East, on January 7-8^th.  His Grace visited the mission to celebrate Theophany with the congregation. Sayidna THOMAS blessed the waters in the Saturday evening Vespers service, followed by a banquet in his honor, and in celebration of Theophany. Bishop THOMAS spoke with members of the congregation, individually, and as a group, and shared his ideas for fund raising, and his continued hopes for the mission to buy land and build a church.  

 

  

On Sunday, during the Hierarchical Liturgy, the bishop’s homily was on the baptism of Jesus, and repentance by turning away from sin.  Following Liturgy, a pot luck reception was held in the mission’s coffee hour room.
