TENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

Epistle: I Corinthians 4:9-16                                                                                       The Prophet Samuel

Gospel: Matthew 17:14-23

Tone:  One

                                                              THE EPISTLE

Prokeimenon:  Let your mercy, O Lord, be upon us.

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous

The reading is from Saint Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians.

BRETHREN, God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels and to men. We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are ill-clad and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure; when slandered, we try to conciliate; we have become, and are now, as the refuse of the world, the offscouring of all things. I do not write this to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel. I urge you, then, be imitators of me.

THE EUCHARISTIC OFFERINGS

The Holy Oblations are offered at the Offertory of the Great Entrance today for the health and welfare of those living members, and for those departed this life in Christ, of the Koskinas Family.

The Coffee Reception in the Church Hall is offered today by the Robinson Family. Please do not wait to sign up for offering this Coffee Reception held every Sunday after Liturgy. The chart is posted in the hall, as well as the list of responsibilities and items needed. Please take your turn; this is an important part of our community life together.

Father George is a dear friend of ours and has often served when Father Joseph is on vacation. WELCOME FATHER GEORGE! Father Joseph will be back for Liturgy next Sunday.

2.       GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION. The “Kickoff” for the Jubilee Focus portion of this 50th Year Celebration will be held on September 30, 2006! Some families have already begun to use the program, but now  we remind everyone of the dates for June 2007. BUT ABOVE ALL: RESERVE FROM NOW THAT WEEKEND FOR YOUR PARISH, AND PLEASE DO NOT PLAN ANYTHING ELSE DURING THAT TIME!  Our 50th Anniversary is truly a unique occasion in our life; make it work for your family.
