Biography of Dr. Anton Vrame

Dr. Anton Vrame was appointed Director of the Department of Religious Education for the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese, January 1, 2007, and Executive Director of the Orthodox Christian Education Commission in 2009.

Dr. Vrame had served as Associate Director for the Department in the early 1990's and was actively involved in the production of the "Living Our Orthodox Faith" curriculum series. He was also the managing editor of Holy Cross Press and served as adjunct Assistant professor in Christian Education at Holy Cross School of Theology, and Lecturer in Religious Education at St. Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary. Immediately before taking the position of Director of the Department, Dr. Vrame served as the Director of the Patriarch Athenagoras Orthodox Institute in Berkley, California.

He was the lead author of a grant proposal to the Lily Foundation which resulted in a $2 million grant. He is the author of The Educating Icon, Teaching Wisdom and Holiness in the Orthodox Way.

He received his M.Div. from Holy Cross, and his Ph.D. in Theology and Education from Boston College. He is on the Board of Directors of the Religious Education Association.
