Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
I pray that you all had a wonderful Nativity Season and A Happy New Year! I hope this letter finds you and your families in good health. I am writing to you to inform you about some exciting things that are happening in our Region and our Lenten Retreat at the Village.
LENTEN RETREAT: Our Annual Lenten retreat will be held at the Antiochian Village from March 27 – 29, 2015. The Speaker for this year's retreat is father John Nozal and the Topic is:
"He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me." -Matthew 10:37
"He" who? "Me" who? What's a woman to do?
ANNUAL DUES: Please be advised that the dues are currently $200 per parish and are due by December 1, 2014. Missions are exempt, but may still contribute. However parishes without a Ladies' Society are not exempt; they are still required to contribute $200 from their church treasury. Dues should be sent by December 1, 2014 to our treasurer, Marlene Ayoub, 108 William Place Totowa, NJ 07512 (payment slip enclosed).
SPECIAL PROJECT: This year we have a new Project, and a new vision, as tasked to us by His Eminence Metropolitan JOSEPH. For 2014-2015, the Antiochian Women will work towards raising funds for this year's project, "Nurturing the Seeds of Orthodoxy Across North America". Please remit your project contributions by May 1, 2015, to Marlene Ayoub, 108 William Place, Totowa, NJ 07512. (Payment slip enclosed).
RELIGIOUS: The religious coordinator selected a book entitled, "THIRTY STEPS TO HEAVAN". The Ladder of Divine Ascent of all Walks of Life, by Vassilos Papavassiliou. It is encouraged to use this book as a book club for your ladies.
HUMANITARIAN: This year the Humanitarian project is again to work with the IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) to send Emergency Baby Kits & School Kits for the children and Health Kits for both children & adults who have been displaced by the war in Syria. Please send us an update of what your church has done or is planning to do towards this humanitarian project. In turn we have to report to the NAB humanitarian coordinator of what our region is doing. Please send all your updates to Julia Kalyoussef our Vice President/ Humanitarian Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PLC: This year's Parish life Conference will be hosted by St. John the Baptist Church of Levittown, New York. The dates are Thursday to Sunday, July 1-5, 2015. Accommodations are at: Upsky Long Island Hotel 110 Motor Parkway Happauge, NY. Phone number 631-231-1100. Please visit stjohnorthodoxchurch.com for more information.
ELECTIONS: At the coming AWE meeting on July 2, 2015 nominations and elections for officers and coordinators will be held, I urge each and every one of you to consider nominating yourself or someone from their parish for a position and getting involved. (Enclosed please find a nomination form, please complete this form and send to Kh. Helen Waggener before the conference.)
I am in the process of compiling a list of all presidents' home addresses, phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Please make every effort to send me this information either via email at email@example.com or telephone at 973-220-3687.
We are blessed with the ability to fundraise and coordinate all of these wonderful activities; however, I would like to stress that the most important thing is to have our hearts directed and attuned to God. May God Bless you all!
Your sister in Christ,
His Grace Bishop THOMAS
His Grace Bishop NICHOLAS
