Biography of Nicholas Chakos


Nicholas Chakos is the Executive Director of FOCUS North America and holds an academic appointment at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School for Public and International Affairs, where his work centers on program management for human development and security initiatives. He has been credited with designing and managing humanitarian aid and social service programs worth over $100 million that have provided assistance to more than 10 million people in the United States, Africa, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

For his lifelong commitment to serving others, Mr. Chakos has been awarded the Patriarch Miron Cross, the highest distinction given to civilians for outstanding social service to Romania and has been named an Archon of the Order of St. Andrew the Apostle by His All Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople. In 2012, Nicholas was named as one of Greek America's "Forty Under 40" young leaders who have excelled in their respective business endeavors and who simultaneously strive to make the world around them a better place.
