The feast of Saint Anthony at St. George Church in Allentown, PA.

The feast of Saint Anthony was celebrated at St. George Orthodox Church in Allentown, Pennsylvania on the evening of January 17, 2006. His Grace Bishop THOMAS blessed us with his presence and presided over the Evening Divine Liturgy. Bishop Thomas delivered a sermon about St. Anthony’s and how his life can be an example to us. There were many local clergy, parishioners, teens and children who attended the service, and afterwards, everyone went downstairs for fellowship, education, and fun.

Fr. Michael Nasser, Camp Director of Antiochian Village, spoke about the Village and what it has to offer each and every one of our Orthodox families and children. Bishop THOMAS shared his experiences as the first counselor at Antiochian Village, and encouraged all of the teens and children from Allentown and the other parishes of eastern Pennsylvania to attend camp. There was plenty of delicious food and a cake in honor of all those named Anthony, especially our own, V. Rev. Father Anthony Sabbagh. Let us remember the Kontakion for the feast, “Forsaking the uproars of life O venerable one, you completed your life in quiet, fully imitating the Baptist. Therefore, we honor you with him, O Anthony, Father of Fathers.”
