St. Emmelia Homeschooling Conference at Antiochian Village + April 7-10, 2016

Does your family homeschool? Are you considering homeschooling? If so, plan now to attend the St. Emmelia Orthodox Homeschooling Conference, scheduled for April 7-10, 2016 at the Antiochian Village Conference and Retreat Center outside Ligonier, Pennsylvania.

This year, keynote addresses will be delivered by Fr. Noah Bushelli, Pastor of St. Philip Orthodox Church in Souderton, PA, homeschooling dad, and Director of the Department of Homeschooling for the Antiochian Archdiocese of North America. Fr. Noah will present the topic of Homeschooling and the Marriage Relationship.

The conference offers workshops for both experienced and beginning homeschoolers alike, with simultaneous activity sessions for children ages 3 and up.

Our weekend is both educational and retreat-like, with many opportunities for worship and fellowship with other Orthodox homeschooling families. Workshops cover topics of interest to inquiring, beginning, veteran homeschoolers and supporting spouses. If your entire family cannot attend, we welcome solo attendees, as well!

The 2015 conference dates are set for April 23–26, and registration materials are available on the Village's website.

The evening Keynote Speaker is Fr. Andrew Steven Damick, pastor of St. Paul Orthodox Church of Emmaus, PA, author of Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy and An Introduction to God, and host of the "Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy" and "Roads from Emmaus" podcasts on Ancient Faith Radio. Other distinguished speakers and workshop leaders are: Lori Peterson Branch, professor of English at the University of Iowa; Theodore (Ted) Federoff, homeschooling dad and a board certified emergency medicine physician currently working in Jersey Shore, PA; Shell Keim, experienced homeschool mom and the Director of Education at All Saints Orthodox Church in Raleigh, NC; Andrew Kern, founder and president of the CiRCE Institute; Charlotte Riggle, of Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Tacoma, WA and seasoned home educator; Dr. Christopher and Anna Veniamin from St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary and Mount Thabor Publishing; and Barbara Shukin, art professor and gallery director.

Antiochian Departments to Host Historic Youth Worker Conference, Jan. 25-28

The January 2012 Orthodox Christian Youth Worker Conference, a historic gathering endorsed by the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America, will be hosted this year by the Departments of Youth Ministry and Camping of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. It is open to all Parish Youth Workers (Youth Directors/SOYO Advisors), Camp Directors and Staff, and OCF Chaplains of all Orthodox Jurisdictions and will convene from Wednesday, January 25, to Saturday, January 28, 2012, at the Antiochian Village Conference Center.

Fr. Joseph Purpura of the Department of Youth Ministry and a Facilitator of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America Committee for Youth, urges all Parish Council and Youth Workers to make every possible effort to attend. "I personally ask that you seek your Parish's help in sending your Parish Youth Director/SOYO Advisor to this Historic Conference," notes Fr. Joseph. "Space is limited - so register early."
