About the Department of Christian Education
The Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Christian Education (AODCE) supports church school directors, teachers, parents, and all who participate in the work of Christian education on the local level. The Department is comprised of the Director, Carole A. Buleza, and the part-time Administrative Assistant, Rosemary Shumski. Rosemary handles the Creative Festivals for the Department.
The Department fosters cooperation, consistency, and interchange between local parishes and the Archdiocese. Each diocese has a Diocesan Coordinator available to assist parishes in organizing a church school and training its staff. The Departmental Coordinators and Associates are volunteers dedicated to Christian Education. The Antiochian Archdiocese uses a church school curriculum published by the Orthodox Christian Education Commission (OCEC). A listing of titles by grade and instructions for ordering these books is found on the Curriculum, Resources, and Great Ideas link. For a description of these texts, please visit the OCEC website at orthodoxchristianed.com.
A valuable tool on the Department website is the Index link. Find the resources you are looking for, arranged according to topic, with a click of the mouse. Look for the link to the index in the right hand column, under "On our site."
