Chesterton, IN Ancient Faith Radio is pleased to announce the release of a new application for tablets and smart phones, in both Apple and Droid formats. This cutting edge app was developed as a partnership between Ancient Faith Radio and The Church App by Subsplash, developers of applications for other national ministry organizations.
The new app allows phone and tablet users to listen to AFR Music and AFR Talk live streaming stations, as well as all AFR podcasts and specials. Additionally listeners can keep up with the latest AFR news, see recent play lists, purchase music, make donations, and contact AFR. Once content has been downloaded listeners can share content via Twitter, Facebook and email. "Though they've been a long time coming, we really believe that these apps are worth the wait. They're comprehensive, elegant, and user friendly. Listening to Ancient Faith Radio 'on the go' is now a simple and enjoyable experience," says Bobby Maddex, Operations Manager for Ancient Faith Radio.
The app is free and is ready for download from the Ancient Faith Radio site, as well as the Apple and Droid app stores.
Archpriest Peter E. Gillquist, retired chairman of the archdiocese's department of missions and evangelism, chairman of Conciliar Press, speaker, and the author of numerous books including Becoming Orthodox, reposed on Sunday evening July 1, surrounded by his family.
Fr. Peter and his wife of 52 years, Kh. Marilyn, had lived for many years in Santa Barbara, California, but as of June 2009 they relocated to Bloomington, Indiana, where their son Fr. Peter Jon Gillquist serves as pastor of All Saints Orthodox Church.
Condolences may be posted on the All Saints website, where tributes have been pouring from all over the United States and abroad. A recent Ancient Faith Radio retirement interview with Fr. Peter, Kh. Marilyn and Fr. Peter Jon, is available here. The schedule of services is as follows:
Antiochian priest Fr. Andrew Damick, an author, blogger and podcaster, is now recording and posting his weekly homilies to his podcast, Roads From Emmaus: Exploring the Intersection Between Place, Communion, and Revelation.
In his homily on Thomas Sunday, Fr. Andrew discussed the difference between the story of Christ and our own story in the world, and on Myrrh-bearers Sunday, Fr. Andrew spoke about our motivation for acts of piety.
Pastor of St. Paul Orthodox Christian Church of Emmaus, Pennsylvania, Fr. Andrew is also the author of the Conciliar Press book, Orthodoxy and Heterodoxy. He describes his perspective on his blog, Roads from Emmaus, this way: "Much of what you might read here will focus on Christian localist themes of place, incarnation, limits, and real communion. I love my home, and I’m firmly of the belief that loving one’s home is a critical element in Christian life and particularly for evangelism."
Ancient Faith Today is what Ancient Faith Radio and Orthodox Internet radio have been missing -- a live inter-active conversation program. Now that void has been filled! Ancient Faith Today streams live, with call-ins from around the world, twice a month on Sunday nights at 5:00pm Pacific/7:00pm Central/8:00pm Eastern on Ancient Faith Radio Talk.
Topics cover all of life through the lens of Scripture and the teaching and canonical tradition of the Holy Orthodox Church.
As an aid to Orthodox Christians who aren't able to make it to all the services of Holy Week, Ancient Faith Radio offers a complete set of recordings of live Holy Week services.
One of the parishes featured in the recordings is St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Church in Madison, Wisconsin, pastored by Fr. Patrick Kinder.
All of the services of Holy Week are included in the set, from the Bridegroom Matins early in the week, to the Service of Holy Unction, Twelve Passion Gospels, Royal Hours and Vespers and Lamentations of Holy Friday, to Sunday's Paschal liturgy and Agape Vespers.
