Fellowship of St. John Hosts September Retreat

“Run to Receive the Prize”

The 6th Annual Inter-Orthodox Young Adult Retreat

September 14-16, 2012

at

St. George Orthodox Church

55 Emmonsdale Rd., West Roxbury, MA 02132

Keynote Speaker: His Grace Bishop +Anthony Michaels

Bishop Anthony comes to us from the Antiochian Diocese of Toledo and the Midwest. He is well known throughout the Archdiocese for his singular dynamism and inspiring messages. Our own Bishop John of the Antiochian Diocese of Worcester and New England will also speak as well as Fr. Demetri Costarakis and Mr. Vincent Minucci both of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

We will be exploring St. Paul’s spiritual discipline as laid out in his first letter to the Corinthians: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we for an imperishable crown. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.”

The retreat will be held in conjunction with Sonia's Run. This 5K run in memory of Sonia Daly Belcher is an annual fundraiser for the Theophany School, a Pan-Orthodox school in the Boston area which was founded by Sonia. The run will be held on Saturday morning followed by lunch and our retreat with Bishop Anthony. Saturday's events will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 55 Emmonsdale Rd, West Roxbury, MA 02132.
