Reflection on the season

“...Come, my beloved; let us walk amidst the knolls,
For the snow is water, and Life is alive from its
Slumber and is roaming the hills and valleys.
Let us follow the footprints of Spring into the
Distant fields, and mount the hilltops to draw
Inspiration high above the cool green plains...”
-Khalil Gibran, The Life of Love XVI

This is a time of renewal. The snow is melting, washing away the salt and sand, the trees are growing impatient, on the brink of blooming, and the earth is emerging from hibernation. Khalil Gibran provides us with great images of gaining inspiration from the renewal of nature and the continuity and perseverance of Life. In the same way, we are called to follow Christ through peaks and valleys (by the way, a knoll is a small hill), for Christ, like spring, emerged from the darkness to provide Life to the world. What we will find is inspiration from the effect of His good works. Things are coming alive again. Let us become restored in mind, body and soul by He who “makes all things new”. I wish you all a blessed and peaceful Paschal season.

The theme is and it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see visions (JOEL 2:28).

Camp Transfiguration: the light on the mountain

This will mark the 4th year of Camp Transfiguration, an Antiochian Orthodox Christian camp in Quebec. This camp is designed to enrich our young peoples’ lives through daily teaching, praying, appreciation of nature and fellowship with fellow Orthodox Christians. There are very few experiences a child can have that will give him/her such a direct and thorough exposure to Orthodoxy. This year, the camp will take place at Camp Tamaracouta, a boy scout-run facility, during the week of July 30-August 5, 2006. Please consider sending your children/godchildren/nieces and nephews to this camp. Also, the camp will only be as effective as the volunteers, staff and counselors that run it. That means you! Once again, click on the camp icon to learn more about the camp, see pictures from previous years and find out how you can get involved.
