Christ is in our midst! He is and always shall be!
Dear Fathers and Sisters in Christ,
Christ is in our midst! I pray that you are having a blessed Lent.
A few weeks ago, my parish of St. George in Grand Rapids hosted a Lenten Retreat for our parish and others in the Grand Rapids area. Our speaker was the Right Reverend Fr. John Mangels (St. Augustine, Denver CO). The day was a great blessing. Fr. John recommended two books for our Lenten reading, Great Lent by Fr. Alexander Schmemann and The Lenten Spring by Fr. Thomas Hopko. I want to pass those recommendations on to all of you. They have been a great blessing to me this Lenten season. As the season of fasting marches on, we begin to look forward to the greatest day in all of history, Pascha and the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ!
