When you look at music on the web site, and wish to download it to replace something else, please look at the footer of the page to see the revision number (Rev. 1, e.g.) or the date to make sure that it is the latest one out there, or at least later than the one you currently have.

The music listed below is in alphabetical order according to either Title, or Season (like Lent or Feast Days), or is Grouped according to type of hymns (such as Antiphons, Communion Hymns, etc.). If it is a Group heading, click on the title of the Group, for example, "Annunciation to the Theotokos," and then all the hymns in that group will unfold under the title.  Then click on the title of the hymn you wish to see or download.

To SEARCH for a particular hymn, you may either
     1) scroll down (or click on the letter of the section you'd like) and find it alphabetically; and click on the Title or the Group Heading, or
     2) type a few words of the Title or beginning words of the hymn in the Search Box and click Apply, or
     3) click on one of the Keywords in the table shown below, or in the right column next to each hymn.
       Then, you must click on the title of the hymn itself in order to open up the PDF file to view it or download it.
If you search for a hymn, or click on one of the Keywords, only hymns associated with that Search or Keyword will display. To go back to the full listing, click on the link "Show All Files." If you cannot find a particular hymn, please send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode of the First Canon of the Dormition of the Theotokos.  "All generations bless thee . . .  In thee, O spotless Virgin . . . ."

Dormition of the Theotokos, Katabasiae (Ode 9-Double)

These are the Katabasiae of the 9th Ode of both Canons, with Magnifications, for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.  Katabasia 1: "All generations bless thee . . . In thee, O spotless Virgin . . . ."  Katabasia 2: "Verily, the angels . . . Let all the earth-born mortals . . . ."

Dormition of the Theotokos, Katabasiae (Odes 1-8)

These are the Katabasiae of Odes 1-8 sung on August 15th for the Feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.  "Thy noble solemn memorial . . . ."

Elevation (Exaltation) of the Cross, Katabasia (Ode 9-single)

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode (without magnification) of the First Canon for the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross, sung from August 1-13 and August 24-September 21.  (On August 6th, the double canon is sung.)  "Thou art the mystical paradise . . . ."

These two Katabasiae of the 9th Ode of the Cross (without magnifications) conclude the Canon on the Feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord on August 6th.  "Thou art the mystical paradise . . . Verily, death which befell the human race . . . ."

These Katabasiae (Odes 1-8) are sung in Orthros (Matins) from August 1-13 and August 24-September 21.  "Verily, Moses having struck with his rod . . . ."

Elevation (Exaltation) of the Cross, Katabasiae (Odes 1-9)

These Katabasiae (Odes 1-9) are sung in Orthros (Matins) from August 1-13 and August 24-September 21.  They can also be sung at the Sacrament of Baptism, while the baby or child is being clothed.  They are sung in a special Tone 8, similar to the Canon of the Paraklesis.  UPDATED AND CORRECTED, 8/29/13

Archangels (November 8th), Katabasia Ode 9

This Katabasia, Ode 9, is sung from November 8th (Feast of the Archangels) until November 20th, inclusive, which includes the changes for the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple.  "Let all earth-born mortals . . . celebrate with honor the holy entrance of the Mother of God . . . ."

These Katabasiae, Odes 1-8, are sung from November 8th (Feast of the Archangels) through November 20th, which include the changes in Odes 1, 3, 5 & 9 for the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple.  "I shall open my mouth . . . and I shall rejoice in her entrance with gladness . . . ."

Cheese Fare (Forgiveness) Sunday, Katabasiae Odes 1-9

These are the Katabasiae of the Canon for Odes 1-9 on Cheese Fare (Forgiveness) Sunday, Tone 6/Plagal Second Mode.  (The same are used on the Sunday of the Pharisee and Publican.)  "When Israel walked on foot . . ."

Festal hymnody for offices and Divine Liturgy for the month of July. This music is from the Byzantine Menaion Project by Basil Kazan. The music is type-set, properly accented and barred, with ison, and rubrics and instructions added in, along with special melodies noted.

Pascha, Katabasia-9th Ode-Megalynarion (chant)

This is the Katabasia of the 9th Ode of the Canon for Pascha: The Resurrection of Christ.  It is also sung as the Megalynarion in the Divine Liturgy on Pascha, and the Sundays of the Myrrh-bearing Women and the Blind Man.  The music is in Western & Byzantine notation.  "The angel cried . . . Shine, shine, O new Jerusalem . . . ."
