THE EPISTLE

Prokeimenon:  Among the saints who are in the earth the Lord has been wondrous.

I beheld the Lord ever before me.

The reading is from Saint Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians.

BRETHREN, you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.  And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, then healers, helpers, administrators, speakers in various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?  Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way. If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all thing. Love never ends.

THE EUCHARISTIC OFFERINGS

Please take your turn; this is an important part of our community life together.

PARISH ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.       The 2007 PARISH LIFE CONFERENCE is schedule for July 4-8 at the Marriott Hunt Valley Inn, Hunt Valley, Maryland. The theme for the Conference this year is “building Up the Body of Christ, until we all come to the Unity of Faith.” The schedule is really wonderful with lively meetings, speakers and entertainment which is planned. It is certainly a time and place where all the organizations in each parish can get together, e.g. Church School, Teen SOYO, Choir, Ladies, etc. to discuss and try to resolve common problems. Each organization from St. Anthony’s should be represented at the PLC! See the beautiful brochure in the Narthex for further information. PARENTS: how special it is to have your children receive their various awards from the Bishop! Plan to attend with them.

2.       Besides the Parish Life Conference, our entire Archdiocese, representing the parishes throughout North America, will gather this year, July 23-29th in MONTREAL, CANADA.  The Biennial Archdiocese Convention is held every other year, on the odd-numbered years. During the even-numbered years, there is no Archdiocese Convention, rather the Clergy gather at the Antiochian Heritage and Learning Center in Ligonier, PA, for the Biennial Clergy Symposium (which is a responsibility of the Department of Theological and Pastoral Education). During the Archdiocese Convention, all the various departments, e.g. Christian Education, Mission and Evangelism, Finance, Youth Department, Theological Education, etc. meet to discuss and plan their future works. Also the various organizations, e.g. The Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch, Antiochian Women, Fellowship of St. John, Teen SOYO, etc. meet to continue their work.

3.       The Jubilee Archival Museum, currently set up in the Multi-Purpose room of the North Complex, will remain there until September. However, please remember that it can be visited ONLY after Liturgies on Sundays. It should not be unlocked by ANYONE, and no food and drinks are allowed. PLEASE COOPERATE  with these guidelines. It would be appreciated if anyone with pictures and/or publicity for our entire Golden Jubilee year would share these items with the Archival Committee headed by Thelma Dacales.

4.       WITH AN OPEN HEART. Our Golden Jubilee CD, produced by St. Anthony’s Choir, under the direction of Stratos Mandalakis, will continue to be on sale. If you have not as yet heard it, you are in for a treat. Ask anyone who has listened to this beautiful CD of our varied music at St. Anthony’s.

5.       Women’s Guild 50/50 Raffle will continue until September 16, 2007 when the Women’s Guild will sponsor a “Welcome Back” breakfast for the start of the Church School year. Please support our Women’s Guild.
