SAINT NICHOLAS VISITS SAINT MARY

On Sunday December 9th St. Nicholas visited the children and teens of St. Mary. Father David gave a special sermon to the children in which he spoke of the life of St. Nicholas and of his love and care for children and young people.

At the end of the liturgy, the children sang the song "All who love Nicholas the Saintly..." and then St. Nicholas came to visit them.

St. Nicholas gave each of the children a gift, chocolate golden coins and a golden orange to remind them of the gifts that he gave as doweries to the three young girls, and a candy cane to remind them of St. Nicholas' bishop's staff.

At the end of the visit all the children and teens stood by St. Nicholas for a group photo.

WOMEN'S PRE-CHRISTMAS DINNER

On Wednesday December 12 the women of St. Mary gathered at Kazimi's Arabic Restuarant in Kingston for a pre-Christmas celebration. The women spent much time visiting and enjoying each other's company. At the end of the meal the women exchanged gifts by selecting either a gift from a common table, or by taking a gift that someone else had chosen. One gift exchanged hands about 15 times. When all the women had received a gift, they then opened the gifts to shoe them to each other. When this was finished the women gathered for group photo with Father David. Khouriyee Anne took the picture of the groups.

VETERANS BREAKFAST
On Sunday November 4, St. Mary's held a breakfast in honor of its veterans.  The breakfast was organized by Suanne Moses and was aided by the Italian-American Veterans of Luzerne County.  To begin the celebration the children of the parish led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

At the end of the celebration all of the veterans gathered with Father David for a group photograph.

It was a special celebration and all appreciated the good food prepared by parishioners and served by the Teen SOYO of St. Mary's Orthodox Church.
