OCN Announces New Podcast: "Mission Possible: Orthodox Parenting Today"

Ft. Lauderdale, Fl – The Orthodox Christian Network is excited to announce its newest addition to its already dynamic and ever evolving list of Podcast Channels – a series dedicated to Orthodox Parenting.   Rev. Dr. Christopher T. Metropulos, the Executive Director of the SCOBA Agency said, “We are truly excited to offer this new channel dedicated to assist parents raising children in the Orthodox Christian way.  OCN welcomes with pride Ginny Nieuwsma, a dedicated mother of six along with the professionals who will be asked to appear on the program”.

The podcast is titled “Mission Possible: Orthodox Parenting Today” and will be available on OCN’s newly enhanced and upgraded web site www.myocn.net.

On any given day, Ginny Nieuwsma might be found driving the afternoon carpool for her 10 and 12 year old sons, filling out college forms for her 18 year old daughter,  babysitting her grandchildren, phoning her married daughter who is a graduate student in New York, or attending her son's high school baseball game. Count 'em by threes, that's three daughters, three sons, and three grandchildren – she and Tim are busy and blessed!

Ginny began freelance writing and editing 27 years ago and is currently working as a web editor for the Antiochian Archdiocese. Along the way, Conciliar Press published her book, Our Heart's True Home, and she also served at Conciliar for many years as editor of "The Handmaiden magazine," as well as book acquisitions' editor. Being involved in radio is second nature to her; she grew up as a daughter of Christian radio broadcasters in Manila, Philippines, where her home sat in the shadow of a large radio tower and she often could find her parents in the studios creating broadcasts.

From broadcasts to podcasts – in 2009, Ginny knows that more than ever, parenting is both a high calling and a tremendous challenge. Her prayer is that this podcast will bring hope, spiritual wisdom, and practical help to moms and dads dealing with the same pressures and concerns she too faces, every day.

The* Orthodox Christian Network* is one of the official agencies of SCOBA, commissioned by our hierarchs to create a national, sustainable and effective media witness for Orthodox Christianity throughout North America.  OCN produces the only nationally syndicated Orthodox Christian radio broadcast, as well as several other outreach programs, including DVDs and Internet-based media, in direct collaboration with sister SCOBA agencies (e.g. IOCC, OCMC, OCF, OCPM), as well as with various Orthodox Christian jurisdictions and pan-Orthodox, para-church organizations. Our goal is to engage the broader culture of North America with Orthodox Christianity's rich theological, spiritual and moral heritage, and to thereby strengthen the Orthodox Church's witness and contribution to the culture in which we live.
