Classical Resource Learning Center Still Has Openings for Fall

Anne Van Fossen, M.A. of Classical Learning Resource Center, reminds distance learners that another season at the Center is just around the corner.

Writes Van Fossen, "Just 25 more days until CLRC classes begin!

It’s not too late to sign up for Classical Greek and Latin classes at the Classical Learning Resource Center. Several classes only have one or two spots left but as of today all of our classes remain open for registration. If you’ve been thinking about learning, or providing the opportunity for your children to learn, Classical Greek or Latin you can still begin this fall. Take a look at the CLRC website and let us know how we can help.

Additional Greek 1 Class Open:

We’re very please to announce that, due to increased interest in our Classical Greek classes, we’ve opened a new section of our introductory Greek class. There are now two Greek 1 classes to choose from – one on Mondays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. (Pacific) and the second on Thursdays from 5:00 – 700 p.m. (Pacific).

Latin for Elementary School Children:

And don’t forget that, in addition to our popular classes for middle school and high school students and adults, CLRC teaches Latin classes to elementary aged children as well. We strongly encourage parents to begin Latin instruction in the elementary school years. Young children have a tremendous capacity for language learning and the introduction to Classical Latin at a young age establishes an ideal foundation for later language learning, comprehension of English grammar, and expansion of vocabulary.CLRC Interview:

CLRC Greek and Latin instructor, Anne Van Fossen, was recently interviewed on Ancient Faith Radio

If you have your own web page or blog please consider linking our web page or the interview. We greatly appreciate your recommendations to your friends!

Classics on Demand:

And finally, we are pleased to announce that CLRC has begun a new initiative just in time for schools or coops who need help with Greek or Latin instruction for fall of 2011. Classics on Demand, is designed to serve small schools or homeschool co-ops that would like to teach classical Greek or Latin but don’t have the resources to hire their own full-time teacher. These groups can now get access to CLRC’s top quality faculty for classes to fit their unique scheduling needs. Days and times for each class can be set to fit the schedule of the school or co-op.

Students need access to at least one computer to enter the virtual classroom. The use of several computers, as in a school computer lab, is ideal; and a projector, Smart Board or similar set up can be used as well. Students see diagrams and charts posted by the teacher and can hear and respond to questions through VOIP. The advantage to the school or co-op is that their students can remain together as a class, the schedule can be fixed according to their needs, and they get top quality instruction at a fraction of the cost required to hire a similarly qualified teacher for their own institution or group. An adult is required to be present to supervise the class and oversee homework assignments. Classics on Demand includes teacher training for this on-site teacher who has access to CLRC's experienced faculty for grammatical or pedagogical questions that arise between classes and could gradually take over the school’s classical language program at least at the introductory levels. Classics on Demand, therefore, provides resources both for instruction and for staff development.

Pricing is dependent upon numbers of students and class hours per week. Interested parents or administrators should contact CLRC for details at anne.clrc@gmail.com
