The Orthodox Church of the Redeemer had the privilege and honor to host the 2012 Diocese of Los Angeles and the West Parish Life Conference in Santa Clara, California on July 4-8. More than 700 clergy and laity gathered and congratulated His Eminence Archbishop Joseph on his elevation to Archbishop and to meet and listen to the newly ordained, His Grace Bishop Anthony. His Grace Bishop Anthony delivered a spiritual and informative keynote address and two Homilies.
On July 4, His Eminence Archbishop Joseph and 135 faithful took a pilgrimage to visit the Relics of St. John Maximovitch in San Francisco, followed by a tour and delicious dinner at the Church of the Redeemer in Los Altos Hills. The following four days were filled with Church services, meetings, and special events including the Annual Order of St Ignatius Dinner on Thursday evening, and a Friday Night dinner party featuring singer, Fadi Hanani. Children had fun-filled Bible learning experiences at the Kids Club, and 30 teens took the opportunity to help others by volunteering for the Second Harvest Food Bank community project. Teens also enjoyed a fireside chat with Fr. James Coles and a teen dance on Saturday evening following the Bible Bowl. The Bible Bowl was well attended, and many came out to cheer and support 20 teams. The conference concluded on Sunday afternoon following a beautiful Divine Liturgy service with His Eminence Archbishop Joseph and His Grace Bishop Anthony presiding, the induction of seven new members for the Order of St. Ignatius and the Awards Brunch recognizing the winners of the Oratorical Festival, Bible Bowl, Photography, Writing, Poetry, and Creative Arts.
